Any girls interested in
playing Junior Competition Golf can obtain information from their local club, or
from the Dalhousie Junior Organiser, Judi Maywood, 5783 1112, judith.maywood@bigpond.com.
The Women's
Golf Victoria Web-site is also a very good source of information.
WGV recommends that all Junior girls playing golf in Victoria,
including beginners and state level players, join the Girls Golf
Network. The standard annual membership
fee is $30.00, but girls who are already members of affiliated golf clubs pay only
$20.00.
Membership includes information updates via email from the WGV Junior Committee,
including entry forms for camps,
clinics and tournaments. The GGN also has a Facebook
page, titled Golf Victoria - Girls Golf Network. Application forms for the
Girls Golf Network can be
downloaded from the Womens Golf Victoria Web-site, see above for
link.
Thanks must
go to Helen Flentje
(Gisborne), Barb Fisher (Yea) and Liz Amos (Marysville) for their constant hard work with
Juniors at their clubs.
Hidden Valley also has an excellent Junior program, the Wombats.

The 2010 Kay Mahlook
Shield was held in Bendigo. Dalhousie entered one team, in Division 3 - Tylah Hodgeson
(Hidden Valley), Maria Capello (Kilmore) and Emily Flavel (Euroa)
Jess Pickwick (Kilmore) came along to help. Jess's handicap of 4 was too low be in
Division 3, but this is her last year as a junior, so it was great for Jess to be part
of the squad
The girls play handicap match play against other districts from all over Victoria.
Divisions are decided on handicaps
Day 1 we lost to Bendigo 2 1/2
Day 2 we went down to North Eastern 1/2
Day 3 we lost to Goulburn Valley 1/2
This was the very first time for Emily and Tylah playing match play. Both girls played
so well, with Emily having a great 6/5 win on Day 2, and Tylah taking her matches right
to the wire
Thanks to Sue Hodgeson and Jess Pickwick for their assistance. |
